When I was at Secondary School our history class studied The Treaty of Waitangi.
In it there was an article that conceeded that Maori have rights to fisheries.
Fish live in; the sea, ponds, pools (remember the Dr Suess book "McElligots Pool" ) lakes and rivers.
Mighty River is a river.
Fish live in Mighty River.
Maori have rights to the Mighty river as a fishery.
A person may not have ownership of water.
The Treaty of Waitangi provides a right to the fishery though.
People (and Goverments) have short memories.
Goverments can make mistakes (The Third Reich), Syria, Muammar Gaddafi ... you get the point.
Some governments ride roughshod over the countries they are supposed to oversee.

Thought One
I understand that the Treaty of Waitangi is the founding document of the Nation state of Aotearoa/New Zealand.
My Thoughts
These thoughts are my own.
They are not the thoughts of others.
They are not the thoughts of anyone related to me.
They are not the thoughts of anyone that employs me or works with me.
They are not the thoughts of anyone who knows me.
You are entitled to disagree with my thoughts. Just go write your own blog.
You are entitled to agree with my thoughts, even though you may have a different age, skin colour, religion, political viewpoint, hairstyle, gender, mode of transport, sense of taste, fashion sense, recreational preference or worldview. I won't mind.
